Many of these changes can be made quite easily, without damaging your teeth, simply by binding a plastic substance tinted the color of your own teeth to the enamel of the tooth you wish to improve. Most often,however, we use ceramic materials which produce a longer-lasting and more realistic-looking result. In this case we usually have to reshape the tooth enamel slightly, in order to ensure a proper toothform and that the ceramic fixes securely onto the tooth. Gum work may be required in cases where there is an uneven gum line, or where the gum covers too much of your teeth, giving you a 'gummy smile'.
